  1. I had to read this epic poem in British Literature 1 in high school. I have always thought this was an extremely boring epic poem and was shocked that they would make it into a movie. Never will waste my time with this one again nor will I be willing to even try the movie!

  3. This text is the Gummere translation of Beowulf. It’s a little forced, as often happens with attempts to translate the poem into alliterative long line, giving us line like “for he waxed under welkin, in wealth he throve.” Strange and stilted, though I know it still has fans.

  4. This is *not* the Seamus Heaney translation but a public domain translation that can be downloaded for free from a variety of websites. I’m not sure how people can get away with such blatant false advertising.

  5. This Kindle version of Beowolf is not the advertised translation but rather one that is in the public domain and freely available elsewhere.
