I need help deciding on a computer?!?

I want to buy a computer that isn’t $1,000 like an apple. I found a computer on www.bestbuy.com and fell in love with it. But I’m not sure if it’s a good buy.
The computer is the Asus- Eee PC Netbook with Intel Celeron Processor. It’s raiting is a 4.0 (I think…). I wrote down everything about it so when I get to best buy I can automaticly know what I’m getting and won’t get jipped.
The product features are:

-16GB solid-state disk hard drive; shock proof deign
-1GB DDR2 memory for multitasking power
-NOTE: OPTICAL DRIVE NOT INCLUDED (<– Do I need that??)
-8.9″ WSVGA TFT-LCD widescreen display with 1024 x 600 resolution
-Intel GMA graphics with shared video memory
-Built-in 1.3MP webcam and microphone make it easy to video chat with, send video mail to or videoconfrence with friends, family or co-workers

-3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports for fast digital video, adio and data transfer
-Built-in high speed wireless LAN (802.11 b/g); 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet LAN (with RJ-45 connector)
-Weighs only 2.2 lbs. and measures just 0.8″ thin for lightweight portability; lithium-ion battery
-Styleish black case finish
-Microsoft Windows XP Home eddition operating system pre-installed; softeware package incuded with Microsoft Works and Windows Live.

I don’t know what half of that stuff is. If any of you do have this computer (or HAD this computer) please tell me some upgrades.
I was planning on using this mostly on writing stories, the internet (youtube, aim, etc.). So I was looking in “What computer is right for you?” and this was the one that appealed to me in internet and e-mail

  1. i cannot explain to you how much you shouldnt buy this notebook. It IS incredibly slow and underpowered.

  2. The most important thing is what you plan on using your computer for,if you will be doing gaming at all you will need a lot faster processor,at least a 2.0 processor.I wouldn’t get a computer with less than 200 gig of hard drive storage. Our laptop has 1GB memory also which is not very big,its like the minimum put in computers, once again it goes back to what you are going to use it for.I did like that it had windows live one care,we have had it for two years and as far as im concerned its the best for keeping your computer safe.Lastly make sure you get a CD burner and a DVD burner installed with which ever computer you buy.
