Kindle 2: Reading Revolution?

Lately its not unusual to see new, developing technologies overshadowing the old. Now with the launch of e-book reader Kindle 2, some are questioning the practicality of the device. (CNET.com) Hello Im Charlotte Bellis and youre watching Newsy.com. The Kindle is a portable device from Amazon.com, which allows you to read electronic books on the go. FOX News reports on the increasing popularity of the gadget. I did an informal poll last night on Facebook and Twitter among our viewers, and hundreds of people said that they want to buy this product. (FOX News) NBC takes a look at the cost of the new technology. It questions Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos (bay-zos) about the steep price. I think it is a must-own for people who read. If you are a reader, if you like to read newspapers and magazines, this makes it much more convenient. (Even if its going to cost you $350 to get this when you can just go out and buy a book?) Even though its going to cost $359 to get this, the books are $9.99; you can actually save money over time using this device. (NBC) The New York Times takes another perspective on whether or not its worth the price tag. An e-book reader is a delicate piece of electronics. It can be lost, dropped or fried in the tub. Youd have to buy an awful lot of $10 best sellers to recoup the purchase price. If Amazon goes under or abandons the Kindle, you lose your entire library. And you cant pass on or sell an e-book after youve read it. (The New York Times) However

  1. Folding your newspaper in half like a computer?

  2. I mean seriously…have you tried to ‘read’ on the iphone? It doesn’t work. The Kindle is a great product! I’ve had it for almost 2 weeks, and I’ve read 4 books on it. This did not seem to be a very balanced review of the product. It doesn’t factor in that the screen is designed for eye comfort, or that once you buy the device, you own the internet access with no service fee. Out of 5 stars…so far, I’ll give the Kindle 6.

  3. worth every penny, i know the iphone can do more but serious. Whats the average battery life of an iphone? The Kindle 2 and other ebook readers like the Sony PRS-505 or PRS-700 are for AVID readers. People who can read for hours.
