The SD1000 package is like $180 and includes:
The actual camera
1 Gigabyte Secure Digital Memory Card.
14-in-1 USB Memory Card Reader.
AC/DC Rapid Battery Charger.
Compact Digital Camera Carrying Case.
Flexible Mini Tripod.
NB-4L Lithium Ion Battery.
Package of LCD Screen Protectors.
And the basic stuff that comes with the actual camera, like a regular battery charger
thx all
Sounds like the camera is refurbished. So, I wouldn’t really recommend you get the SD1000, because it’s now an old model (released early 2007) and also lacks IS (image stabilizer). All of Canon’s newer models now have IS, which is better.
I recommend you get something newer like the SD1200 IS (which costs less than US$200). It’s an overall better camera than the old SD1000.
Camera packages are usually a waste of money. SD or SDHC memory cards are cheap to buy. You will need a fairly fast one (Class 4 or Class 6 speed) something like Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III. What type of card does the package include? 1GB isn’t much capacity, so I recommend you get 2-4GB instead (especially if you want to record videos).
The camera usually comes supplied with it’s own battery, so you don’t need an extra one. But, seeing as the camera is probably refurbished, it’s original battery might not be so good. Who knows…
The battery usually only takes around 2 hours to fully charge. You can charge it at any time, so you can give it a quick top up charge if you have to.
A mini tripod, you can probably buy for a few bucks (if you REALLY need it).
