A graphic tablet like the Bamboo is just like a mouse, except that it also reads how hard the pen is pressed (only certain programs use that feature, like Photoshop). You can use it with any pretty much any software. The only negative I’d mention is that the Bamboo is not that big. If your BF is using it in a professional capacity, he’d probably be better off with one of the larger tablets from Wacom. These are much more expensive, though. Ask him if he’d like it, or at least include a gift receipt.
