OCTO Faux Leather Slip Cover – Dark Brown

  1. This product does an excellent job of protecting my Kindle 2. The cover is hard shelled, and you slip the Kindle into the sleeve. Presto, no problems with dropping or other hazards.

    Pro:

    - The design is great at protecting the Kindle.

    - You can charge the Kindle while in the sleeve (although I don’t recommend this because the battery does heat up when charging).

    - When you are using the Kindle, there is no bulk involved. One of the things I like about reading with the Kindle is that it is light and easy to handle. While the Kindle does have holes in the side that accommodate covers, these designs are, well, attached; this adds bulk to an otherwise simple design. The sleeve does not, simply because you have to remove the Kindle to use it.

    - The price is right!

    Cons:

    - I would have preferred a color choice, such as black, rather than only having brown available.

    - It is not leather, which many people prefer. (but leather would be much more expensive)

    - You have to remove the Kindle to use it. I know, this is also listed as a “Pro”, but some people would prefer not to have to pull it out of the sleeve every time it is used.

    Summary:

For great protection, get this product.

  2. The aesthetic of the case is very much like that of the Kindle itself; clean, simple lines with a design of classic, understated elegance. If you’re looking for a more rigid body design, a case that integrates into the reading functionality, doesn’t block (or protect) any port and with lots of character, then the OCTO Vintage Leather Book Cover for Amazon Kindle 2 may be a better choice for you.

This slip cover is great for carrying your Kindle in bags/brief cases without adding bulk or weight. You can’t charge it while it’s in the cover (but you can plug in headphones) and this cover in no way incorporates into the reading experience; you take it off completely and set it aside to read the device. It provides fairly good impact resistance and excellent scratch protection to your Kindle. It’s a got a fairly rigid body design but not such that external keyboard press-throughs are impossible (which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on whether you want to be able to press the spacebar with the device in the case, to pause the music/text-to-speech…because you can; sometimes I do this on purpose, sometimes it’s an accident).

  4. I was very impressed when I received this case. The case has a luxurious dark brown finish and soft suede inside. The case is stiff enough to protect the screen from other objects pressing on it in your bag. It’s also snug so the Kindle doesn’t fall out yet it’s easy to slide it in and out. Great product overall and highly recommended.

  5. There were so many covers for the Kindle available but I finally selected the Octo Faux Leather Slip Cover for Kindle 2. The price was right! The Kindle fits in the slip cover nice and snug. No need for latches/closures, it does not slip out. It fits nicely in my purse, not bulky as I imagine some of the others might be. It is padded to protect the Kindle. I’m very happy with it.
