i want to build my first ever pc system for personal use like word typing, internet, email, uploads digital cam videos, store loads and loads of pictures from photo album (really HUGE).
i have come up with the following spec:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2 x 2.4Ghz
2GB 240Pin 667 DDR2 PC5400 RAM
MSI 975X Platinum Power Up
WINDOWS XP Home
360GB Serial ATA 7200RPM Hard Disk Drive
18x Dual Layer DVD-ReWriter
1.44MB 3.5 Inch Floppy Disk Drive
Internal 52 In 1 Card Reader
ATX Case
500W PSU with 120MM Case Fan
what are your views on this spec?
will the motherboard, processor, RAM and graphics card work well together?
shall i use the heatsink and fan included in the processor box or use the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro CPU COOLER?
the 6600 is a nice choice. currnetly i’m running a pentium d dual core 3.0 ghz with the AC Freezer 7. it does even more when you add some Arctic Silver 5 to it (which no system builder should be without.) it’s done wonders for my sys temps (which, as you may/may not know, the Pentium D’s run pretty hot)
make sure you get a case with good airflow, not just a cheapie.
also, if you indeed do have a HUGE photo album, you may want to look into more hard drive space. you may want the 360 as your main drive or partition. then maybe a 200 for your media.
Possibly. But I still would invest in a cooling freezer if I were U .Ecspecially if U were to play the lates PC games on it.I mean I tried to buy a WW2 wargame last night from best buy and it still asked that I’d have at least 3.4 Ghz,so I didn’t buy it.
Otherwise it seems to be a good set-up.
how much money??
use 2gb of DDR2 800 instead of 667. It’s faster and just as cheap if not less. windows xp will not recognize more than 3.5 gigs of ram anyway, otherwise i would recommend 4 gigs. get two sata 7200 rpm drives and put them in a raid zero for faster file read/writes. use a corsair power supply such as the 520hx, it’s rock solid stable. you did not list a vid card so what is it that you’re looking at? I would stick with nvidia 7 or 8 series for now, 8 series if u want to go with windows vista for direct x 10 benefits.
as for the cpu cooler, i would put an aftermarket cpu fan on it and use arctic silver 5 for sure. it will help drop case/cpu temps and increase the life of your components.
