Here’s round 3 of the smackdown, book vs. Kindle. See what happens when a friend wants to borrow a book.

  1. although some people are ANAL about lending books, this is the first one where the book has really won.

but i think the main argument is stupid.
the kindle does away with a physical book, but no what is inside, which is why books are good; you get sucked into them and that will still be there on a kindle. its like destroying every audio book because its not traditional.

where an audio book gives reading to the vision impaired, the kindle gives reading to the narrow minded generations to come.

  2. It has nothing to do with being able to fly with no wings evolution and development.. do you really what to have a credit card linked subscription for READING A BOOK as well… c’mon this is just a tech flip for nerds… books are books ebooks are for storing them and make ‘em indestructible

  3. I dont want to torrent books too… tht’s silly… few things give me pleasure as reading a book i read when i was a teen and find a nice fat stain i left there 10 yrs ago :)

  4. Oh whatever! Like you’d totally flip the script if the opponent of traditional print were The Sony Reader!

  5. well this one i actually could go either way on cause i don’t want to loan my books out no one gives them back! :)

  6. Many use a brand name as a genreric term. For instance, there was a time when people refered to refrigerators as frigadaires. They were not referring to that brand but rather rifrigerators in general. In addition, many people have the same complaints about readers in gerneral that you have toward the Kindle.

  7. It’s funny how people respond to our commercial with all the ways that e readers are better. We are not commenting on e readers in general. We are commenting on the Kindle. You guys don’t really pay attention do you?

  8. The ebooks are better because you can torrent the ebooks and get them for free. It adds up once you torrent enough books.

  9. People feel the same way about the Kindle that people once felt about the Wright Flyer (if “men” were meant to fly, God would have given them wings) or Ford’s horseless carriage (Get a horse). Just like all good inventions, the Kindle will come into its own despite the detractors.

  10. You may not be able to share a Kindle document, but other devices support a more open format. For instance, I can down load a book in pdf or txt format onto an SD card or flash drive. I can then lend you that storage device and you can read it on your computer. This is not a comment on the Kindle, but on the limits of the present technology.

  11. LOVE IT…..

  12. Well, this is only valid point so far. BOOK: 1, EBOOKS: 2.
