this is the original nook. Yes it has a web browser, however it will be limited because of the e-ink screen as it has a low refresh rate. the nook color has an lcd or tft screen, which makes it more of a tablet than an ereader for most people.

  2. is this the original nook, or the nook color? does this mean the nook that is $149 has a web browser now?! Please someone tell me

  3. they have 1.5 now its cool

  4. @JonahhChavarria yes

  5. is the software android?

  6. Seems like its a good product, but needs more software changes. I would buy one but just watching you, your having trouble with the interface and with the touch pad. I’ll wait for the better model

  7. 2 question about nook:
    1 – when i read can i turn-off the color-screen?
2 – i can change size of the font only in the epub, or also in the pdf format?
    thanks
    bye bye

  8. is ur 3g?

  9. @Pinwormx because the e-ink can not refresh rapidly, so the cursor would have to jump around as in Kindle. The best solution would be to make the main screen touch-screen and when you click on screen the cursor moves there even though cursor would not be able to move continuously.

  10. @LOVECAKExoxo i think so… i guess they count as pictures??

  11. @LOCKERZ1142

Doubtful. Looks at the screen refresh rate when it switches screens – now think about how well video would work. :)

  12. @Pinwormx

No kidding, I was thinking the exact same thing. Patents maybe?

That weird split-brain between the two screens is about the only thing that makes me hesitate before getting this device…

  13. Why not just make the touch area a trackpad for the games and web?

  14. can u read manga books?

  15. @LOCKERZ1142 i have the new nook and i think u can but u have to download adobe flash player which i havent done yet so yeah …..but i think you’ll b able to after the download

  16. @09barack
I don’t think the Nook can do Flash, but Facebook and Twitter maybe.

  17. I want to get this sooo much! I will have it. You totally sold me on it. I like this one better than the Kindle and the sony ereaders from what I’ve seen. I’m so excited to get one. I love to read so much this will help me tremendously. I won’t have to carry around so many books.
    Your reviews are so great!

  18. Ummm..i am about to buy a eBook. I wanted to know can you get on youtube or you know, twitter and facebook. ? [Just asking] :D

  19. @poeticmurder911 Its for if your bored and give your eyes a break

  20. can you go to youtube on the nook

  21. @jc3202 both

  22. does the nook have free 3g like kindle or does it have just wifi ?

  23. why add games and more distractions to a book reader? dumb move

  24. I got my Nook last week and I’m simply loving it, as soon as I turned it on it instantly started to download and install firmware 1.3, everything runs smoothly, I have read an entire book and going 200+ pages on my second one, with the Nook you choose from thousands of ebooks free from the internet, there’s literally hundreds of sites offering free ebooks on line, many in pdf or epup formats which the Nook supports with no problem, I can’t be happier with this gadget!

  25. @superE230 You couldn’t transfer them, I don’t think. Unless they were PDFs. If you’re not sure if they are, they probably aren’t.
