  1. I purchased the M-Edge Prodigy Kindle 2 cover six months ago, and have enjoyed using it daily since then. I don’t think I’m a particularly heavy user – I read the New York Times everyday and a book per week – so I was surprised when I noticed that the tab that keeps the cover closed has developed fatigue cracks. The cracks have appeared exactly at the spot where the internal stiffening material ends, and will no doubt lead to the tab tearing off completely in time – defeating the purpose of this particular cover – keeping the cover closed during a fall. I don’t know about you, but I do expect greater longevity from a product that costs $44.99.

  2. I got this cover for my Kindle because i wanted a cover with a strap to keep it closed. It is very light and easily fits in my purse for on the go use. Nice quality. The only drawback is that the front flap doesn’t really fold back very well. My daughter has the kindle cover that is made by amazon and the front flap folds back easily. I love this cover tho and it protects my kindle very well.

  3. Top notch case… You can smell the leather goodness of it… fits my kindle like a glove, but it!

  4. I bought this cover for my Kindle 2 because I wanted to use the m-Edge light for when I go places that are dark (taverns) and want to read. Previously I had been using the Amazon-branded leather cover.

The construction quality is good and has that new-leather smell. Inserting the Kindle into the bracket is initially a little difficult because the fittings are held tightly by the leather. This is by no means a bad thing because this leather will loosen a bit with age and not get tighter.

The light also fits snugly in its designated slot. I had first tried to insert the light and then the Kindle but that was too difficult. Inserting the Kindle and then the light was a lot easier to do.

Having been used to folding the cover back behind with the Amazon-branded leather cover, I tried to do the same with this cover. I’m sorry to say that it just cannot be done, and the only reason the review did not get five stars. Because of the construction of a (relatively) thick outer leather cover stitched to a (relatively) thick inner suede lining, the outer cover bulges too much when you try to fold it back. I eventually gave up trying.

Using the cover without folding it behind, however, was not as problematic as I expected. One of my common reading positions is in bed on my back with Kindle propped on my chest. I was able to hold the top of the cover with my left hand and press the page-forward button with my left thumb, so all was well.

Overall this is a good quality cover. The tab is, if anything, a bit too flexible, but with practice is easy to fully insert into its slot to keep the cover closed.

I think most people will be happy with this cover if they don’t feel the need to fold it back when reading.

  5. I got this shortly after getting my Kindle but I have to say I found it disappointing.

The fit and finish is fine but the cover is very bulky and can’t be easily folded back behind the Kindle to hold it with one hand.

The other annoyance is the small strap that is used to latch the cover shut. For keeping the cover closed it works great but then when you are reading your Kindle this strap is always hanging out to the right which is quite distracting as this is directly in your reading field of view.

I gave up and got the Cole Haan cover instead which is *much* nicer (albeit twice the cost).
