Food Remedies Facts About Foods And Their Medicinal Uses
I thought this book would be different based on it’s title, it is preachy and not easy to read. I don’t recommend, even if it is free.
Rating: 1 / 5
Unless you are interested in the history of ‘medicine’ and ‘nutrition’ this book is a total waste. Some of the old treatments are mildly funny, but more often I found myself wondering how these ‘cures’ didn’t end up killing more people.
Rating: 1 / 5
This book was written in 1908. It gives advice on the medicinal qualities of numerous foods but all the advice seems hopelessly out of date now. It is interesting as a historical publication.

Wow, this book has some strange ideas about how to eat. Where I thought I was going to read about treating different symptons with different foods, instead I’m being told to eat up to six pounds of grapes a day in order to gain weight. This book seems to push the concept of eating fruit, and nothing but fruit, in extremely large quantities, every single day. In fact, it said that you should continue eating only fruit, even if it causes extreme severe diarrhea.
The guide this book pretends to be is extremely dangerous. If this was meant to be a joke, it’s not funny. If it is an example of how to kill yourself by eating extremely poorly, it should come with a warning. And worst of all, if it’s meant to be serious, this author deserves to be held accountable for any hospitalizations caused by eating in this manner.
Beware, this goes beyond the concepts of fad diets, and has absolutely nothing to do with medicinal uses of foods.
